Monday, May 23, 2011

Good Morning,

We're still here. Wish it wasn't true, but it is. That means we still have things He wants done. Mary O'Fallin is already home from her eye surgery and all went well. Dusty Bolin is in East Houston Regional with a few problems. She is in room 2930 if you can swing by. I will head over there with a strawberry malt that she requested in about an hour - whenever DQ opens. Jake Brewer will have shoulder surgery on Wednesday. Please pray for these folks today.  Speaking of Wednesday we will have chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, green beans and salad for our mid-week family meal.

Tomorrow night is Gospel Night at Premier's Restaurant, 6-8pm. Please join us. If you want to ride the church van please contact the church office today or tomorrow morning.

It is not an accident that the first impulse of those first Christians who responded to Peter's sermon on the Day of Pentecost was to share what they had with those in need. At the very least, our Christian faith focuses for us the right questions. How shall we live in relationship to our possessions? How shall we live in relationship to others, especially the most needy among us? And how can we find the common good? There is only one voice out there that can cause us to do a 180. The Good Shepherd calls us to abundant life. Others come to steal or kill or destroy. Abundant life means the fullness of Christ is in your heart and it is enough. May God help us all to hear that voice.

See you later,love, ken.

Good Morning,

There IS life after Thursday. Hoo wah, howdee doodee and scream like Tarzan. It's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Whatchha gonna do when they come for you? Bad boys, bad boys. Tell them it's Friday. Tomorrow is Saturday, so come back on Monday. What is wrong with Arnold S. out in California? I mean, come on , Maria is pretty easy on the eyes. And she has deep pockets. Just goes to show you it takes more than looks and money to make a marriage work. So all of you broke, ugly husbands, like me, we have a chance at long happy marriages. Maria can write a book now and call it "Hungarian Hoocheeman." I know it's weak, but it's all I could come up with. Have a great Friday. Get pumped up, you wild and crazy boys and girls.

Betty Moore is back in the hospital at East Houston. Joyce Raines release from thr hospital was postponed until this afternoon. I think Liz Peddy's may have been also. Jimmy Elliott has a back MRI today afternoon. Dusty Bolin is not feeling well, either. Terry has her doctor's appointment at 10 this morning. Please pray for these folks. Thanks.

BAGMA Showcase tomorrow night at 6:30 with Carolyn Campbell, Zach Magnuson, One Voice and Masters Vessels. Please join us and welcome the BAGMA organization to our church. You will be blessed by some great music and be supporting some of our members and the BAGMA ministry.

Sunday night will be special as the AWANAS leaders and students will join us in worship and have their end-of-year ceremonies. Please be there to support this great ministry. You will be amazed at what the children know about God's Word.

Kiss your kids, hug your mate, look at everybody you see this morning and tell them Good Morning. It's a start on being like Jesus.

See you later, love, Ken.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

 Good Morning,

I saw an unusual city sight this morning  - a dead skunk in the road. Yes, he was stinking to high heaven but he was not in the middle of the road. He was in the right lane. As slow traffic, he was in the correct lane. But I guess there is slow and then not moving. Pepe is not moving. Pepe La Pue, the black cat with the white stripe down it's back that would not admit it was a skunk until the dog needed a dose of smellum'. I also have a new opportunity for you entrepreneurs. It is called Elephant Away. It is a scientifically designed anti-elephant powder. It is proven, as I have not seen any elephants around my home in over 25 years. Franchises are available today only for $45,000.00 with the bargain basement price of 2 for $95,000.00. We have the greatest slogan ever: " No Gray, No Sway, With Elephant Away."  A companion franchise named "Teenager Away" will become available in early June. It comes with a lawnmower and a vacuum cleaner and guaranteed to rid your home of any mouthy teenagers. You can make presale deposits for this great opportunity today for only... you guessed it. With your intelligence level you will make a great franchisee. Have a great Thursday.

Liz Peddy was smiling this morning at St. Luke's but in some pain, still. She may come home today or tomorrow. Betty Moore will be coming home from East Houston this afternoon. Joyce Raines is back in Christus Hospital after falling last night. I will check on her later today. Please lift these up, today.
Saturday night at 6:30pm is the BAGMA Showcase here at FBCNC. Come and join us for a great night of Christian music.

Next Tuesday we will be at Premier's Restaurant, 6-8pm. Mark your calendars.

Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, recently offered WGN Chicago Radio sports-talk host David Kaplan $50,000 to change his name legally yo "Dallas Maverick." When Kaplan declined, Cuban sweetened he offer. Cuban would pay Kaplan $100,000 and donate $100,000 to Kaplan's favorite charity if he took the name for one year.

Despite some soul-searching and email bombardment from listeners, who said he was crazy to turn down the money, Kaplan held firm. "I'd be saying I'd do anything for money, and that bothers me," Kaplan said. " My name is my birthright. I'd like to preserve my integrity and credibility."

"Christian" is the birthright of every followers of Jesus Christ. We have a responsibility to live every day in a way that brings honor to that name.

See you later, love, Ken.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Good Morning,

Looks like Arnold said "I'll be bock," to more than one sweet thing. Only in California... and New York and Washington, D.C. and Texas and... Boys and girls can you spell "example". Now can you spell "bad". Ms. Molly said, "If politicians were of any less aptitude we would have to water them every day." It's midweek again and Friday is visible on the horizon. The Astros may just have them a new owner with a fitting name - Mr. Crane. They need a crane to pull them out of the cellar. The Braves did them in again yesterday. Will Tipper Jones ever retire? I think he continues to play just so he can play the Astros.  Why not join us tonight for Bible Study, barbecue chicken and links, baked beans, corn-on-the-cob, potato salad and lots of prayer. It all starts at 6pm.

Continue to pray for the Walter's family. Along with Liz Peddy whom they just rolled into surgery at 7:10. I missed her but I was able to pray with Jim. I went to Methodist first and that was wrong as she is at St. Luke's. Cheryl Gaylord has a doctor's appointment today to check out her back situation. Patty Walger is getting around very good but did fall on Monday, but was at the Grayson Center last night and made some little sandwiches that were mighty fine. Pray, please.

You missed a great time and a great crowd at the Grayson Center last night. Thanks to all who make that possible each month. You're the best. I think the final head count last night was about 120, so if you weren't there you missed a lot of nice people.

Please don't forget our special offering for the church roof at the church at Tecolote outside of Alice. Our goal is $2500 and right now we are at about $800 with two weeks left on the drive. We need your help. Please pray and then give as God directs. This is an ongoing youth group ministry that needs your support. Please.

Saturday night at 6:30pm we will host the BAGMA Showcase. There will be great music from a number of individuals and soloists including Zach Magnusson. I will have the full lineup tomorrow. Zach's name is the only one my memory can lock on right now.

I need to check my deodorant as normally this computer room at Methodist is abuzz with people and I am the only one in here today. Maybe I used Raid instead of Right Guard. Oh well.

Raid gets rid of bugs only when you use it. Christianity will change the world only when we use it. Telling the bugs you have Raid does no good. Telling the world you are a Christian does little good. Using it does better. Tell the world about Christ - if you must, open your mouth.

See you later, love, ken.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Good Morning,

Nice cool breeze blowing down the Fannin corridor this morning. The pigeons are still gone. I saw two over on Main but Fannin seems to be off limits. Maybe there is a pigeon curfew in effect. Did see a squirrel eating a french fry though. I wonder if they bury those also? They bury everything else. "Look, Fuzzy Tail, I promise you I buried that thing right here six months ago and now it is gone. I can still smell the grease. You're the only one that saw me bury it here so you had to have taken it." Talking squirrels, yeah right. Well there are flying squirrels. So if squirrels can fly and we can't... I guess that makes us nuts. If some of them can fly I would think surely some of them can talk. If you will crawl up a tree and act like a nut they will come right up to you and then maybe you will hear them talk. That would be a neat thing to do at lunch today. Let me know how that goes. Have a nutty buddy Tuesday, goobers and gooberettes.

We need your help. We need you to bring cooked vegetables, desserts and breads for the Walter's family tomorrow following the funeral. The meal is planned for noon. If you can bring your items to the church fellowship hall between 8:30 and 9:45am that will be great. Please remember the viewing for Mrs. Walters is tonight, 5-8pm and the funeral is tomorrow at 10:00am. For further details please contact Joyce Smith.
Tonight at 7pm the Grayson Center Gospel Night will be happening. Come and join us! Supper and music all free, what a deal. Really cheap date night.

There are a number of little books on the desk here at Methodist that are entitled "Understanding..." Understanding various diseases. The one closest to me is "Understanding Leukemia."  It gives details of the disease and some of the treatments. But even with that, I don't really understand it very well, but I do know it was what killed my uncle in 1971. We have a tendency to not understand many things but we do know their effects on our lives and that becomes our point of recognition with those particular things. In other words, as soon as you mention leukemia, I think of my uncle, not the description or workings or treatment of the disease. It needs to be our goal at our work place, within our family and in our communities that we have that same effect on people's word association. When God, or church or Christian or Jesus is mentioned, even though those around may not understand any of those concepts their thought pattern goes to our name or face because we have become the symbol of those good things where we are. Could that happen where you are everyday? You are what you are until you change.

See you this afternoon and tonight, love, Ken.

Monday, May 16, 2011

Good Morning,

Another week begins. Let's go. We can't stop it but we can change it. I don't mean we can make tomorrow Friday, but we can make it better. I attended a classic car show on Saturday and it was amazing where those owners had taken those cars from and the end results. There were missing parts, broken parts, rust holes, and dilapidation in general from some of the pictures that the car owners had that showed where they started from in their restoration projects. Wow what changes they had made with new parts, new metal in place of rusted out metal, body filler in creases and cracks, primer, new paint and great end results. Restored. A common word in the classic car crowd. Also a great word for what God desires to do to us and for us. He wants to put us back into the "made in His image" condition. Back to original specs. His specs. Let Him. Have a super Monday.

Please continue to lift up the Walters family today. I will send out funeral details as soon as possible but I don't plan to bother the family today as they have gone many weeks without much rest. Also, lift up Liz Peddy as she prepares for back surgery on Wednesday morning.

Tomorrow night is the Grayson Center Gospel Night. We need you to be there as we need a large crowd to make sure to please the Harris County folks as they are having to make cuts everywhere and the cuts in these types of events will be determined by the number of people that are affected. It is at 7pm. We also need a few more sandwich maker volunteers. Please contact Donna at the church office today or tomorrow morning. Thanks.

Wednesday Night Family Meal is barbecue chicken and links, baked beans, potato salad, watermelon, etc. at 6pm and then Bible Study at7pm.

Self-pity is one of the most unhappy and consuming defects that we know. It is a bar to all spiritual progress and can cut off all effective communication with our fellow man because of its demands for attention and sympathy. It is an odd form of martyrdom, which we can not afford. In other words, it is very dangerous, so beware.

See you later, love, ken

Friday, May 13, 2011

Good Morning,
Wow what a beautiful day after the rain and it is Friday, too. You must be living right! Enjoy yourself today as you head into the weekend. What a great night last night as 8 young people were saved and 27 rededicated their lives. Loud is good! Thanks to all involved and the leadership of the Juncture class and their leader, Lydia Cisneros. God is good! Thank you for your prayers and support for this super night.
Tonight the Marsha Fisher CD Release Concert is in the house with the Southern Plainsmen, Crossing Jordan and Dennis Rehders. It starts at 7pm and there is no admission charge and a love offering will be collected toward the end of the evening. Come and join us for a great night!
Please continue to pray for Ruth Walters, Fran Miller, J.C. Bryant, Christi Houston, Natalie Lombrana, Terry Durham, Mary O'Fallin, Cheryl Gaylord, Sandi Hambrick, Tiffany Cranford, Perry Walker, Patty Walger, Holyfield Family, Rev. James Morriss Family, Keaton Kohler, Marilyn Cisneros, Terry Everitt, Jimmy & Annie Elliott, and the graduates of the North Channel ESL Academy. Take a moment and ask God to intervene in these lives.
Pete Rose with all his supposed short comings could never be accused of lack of desire to play the game of baseball. He said, "I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit to keep playing baseball."
That should be our level of desire to please God. See you later, love, ken.

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Good Morning,
It is Friday eve or Thursday, whichever you prefer. On my calendar it is Friday eve. Why am I so hung up on Fridays. I don't get it. I mean I worked Saturdays for like 30 years or at least a half day on Saturday so Friday was just another day. I think it is a mental thing, but you have to have a mind to have a mental thing, right? Oh well. It is supposed to rain today, but is looks rather nice right now, so I don't know. There is a place over by the monument that is called Rain for Rent. I don't understand that, but we may need to give them a call. I've heard of rain dances around the teepees but this place only has big trucks, no teepees. The grass is dead in front of their building, so I'm not sure about their abilities. Continue to pray for rain and get your umbrella and lay it beside you when you do. Pray with faith in other words. Have a great post Wednesday.
Stellar Kart is here and the Juncture gang and their helpers have unloaded some of their gear and Seventh Day Slumber will roll in here about noon and then the real work begins. Kiros may be flying in from Canada - I'm not sure. But anyway, come 6pm they will all be here and the lights will go down and the volume will go up as the Tearing Down the Walls Tour is in the house. Send your kids, bring your kids, whatever it takes, but get them here.
Tomorrow night the Marsha Fisher CD Release Concert will be in the house at 7pm with Dennis Rehders, Crossing Jordan and the Southern Plainsmen.
A church for all... a place for you. Join us one or the other, or both. They both will do this: uplift God, bring you closer to what God wants you to be and introduce those to Christ that don't know Him. That is why we are here.
The North Channel ESL Academy is holding their graduation ceremonies right now with 72 graduates. Way to go graduates and leaders, Doug and Pat Clough and Ray and Connie Churchwell.
Well I've got to find a place to hide so I don't have to unload band gear, so I had better scoot. Love, Ken

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Good Afternoon,
Just got sprinkled on in Sealy. I rolled down my window so I could smell it. Rain on a hot day in the country, potatoes and onions frying on the lake bank, little babies right after their baths, new mown hay, fresh-cut ice cold watermelon - all great smells. I met a lady in Columbus this morning that remembers my grandmother who passed over 25 years ago. It's been a good day. Thinking of my grandma makes me remember all those great smells. Her house always smelled good and she didn't have air conditioning just window fans. So when she wasn't cooking you smelled whatever was going on outside. In the spring after the smell of fried bacon died down, the you could smell the fresh dirt form the garden that grandpa was plowing up. Then in the summer it was the fresh cut hay along with the lunch time pot of soup. Then that late afternoon shower that steamed off the hard dirt driveway made a great mix with the roast and potatoes in the oven. Have a great Wednesday.
Tonight at 6pm we will have parmesan chicken, alfredo noodles, green bean casserole, baked squash, corn, and more then Romans and Paul and prayer and praise. Come on and join us. Please.
Ruth Walters was doing fairly well in Columbus this morning but a little weaker than yesterday seemed to me. Tootsie and some of the other family members were there. The doctor's prognosis is not good, but we will wait on God. Patty Walger is home but still in pain and not quite ready for visitors yet. Fran Miller is in St.Luke's. Mr. Sasser is having triple by-pass right now at Bayshore Hospital. Betty Moore is having neck, back and leg pains. Cheryl Gaylord fell yesterday and now has a bruised leg to go along with the back situation. Mary O'Fallin's eye surgery will be next Monday at sunup. Please pray for these folks.
Tomorrow Seventh Day Slumber will be here at 6pm. Please don't let your kids, grandkids, neighbor's kids, or anybody miss this that likes their music with an edge and a little loud. I assure you they will hear about Jesus. In the safety of the church grounds and sanctuary with plenty of adults on hand.
Friday night the volume level goes down a little but the message remains the same - Jesus. With the Marsha Fisher CD Release Conceet with Marsha, Dennis Rehders, Crossing Jordan and Southern Plainsmen. That starts at 7pm right here at the church.
How did no complaint Tuesday go? How is your no attaboy Wednesday going. Doing the good stuff because you're a Christian and not looking for kudos? Good. No Compliant Tuesday and No Attaboy Wednesday. Mark your mental calendar every week. Oh you got confused and you've made Tuesday and Wednesday no complaints day. That's been really terrible hasn't it? Not really, you say? Hmmmm...
See you later.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Good Afternoon,

Sorry I missed you yesterday and running so late today, but here we are. Here we are... Dallas Holm is in the house. Not Really. But we will rise again. Have yourself a great day. Put some extra glue on your wig. If you've got a skinny kid you want to get rid of, let him climb onto the roof of the house. He won't last long. Some farmer around Seguin will wonder what just flew past. It will be his skinny kid now. Windy days and windy nights. That would make a good song titile. Where is Freddy Fender when we need him - I've got another big hit for him. Is Flaco Jiminez still alive? That guy can jam on the accordion. I know jam and accordion normally aren't used in the same sentence but with Flaco(or is it Fleco?) it is a usual thing. He was the accordion player for the Texas Tornadoes with Freddy singing and Doug Sham, I think, on the keyboards from the Sir Douglas Quintet. What a weird combo but they could make some pretty good Texas salsa boogie. I think I've remembered all of that correctly but now I can't remember their one or two hit tunes. Oh well, it's Tuesday, go out and have yourself some fun.

Tonight, Mandissa, the American idol finalist from a few years ago who Simon said was "too heavy" will bring her 112 pound lighter self to the Chick-Fil-A on BW8 @ Wallisville for a 6:30pm concert. It's free and you don't want to miss this chick. She can wail. She's a jammer, too. Jammin' for Jesus. That's what will happen tonight as she is the main attraction fo rthe KSBJ Brown Bag concert series at Chick -Fil-A. We are very blessed to have have her at this location so close to us as she is in high demand with a new album and a few hits to her credit already. It all starts at 6:30pm and it is totally free, but go ahead and buy a bag full of chicken sandwiches to show your support of the chicken folks.

Tomorrow night's menu is parmesan chicken with alfredo noodles, baked squash, salad, another vegetable, french bread, Romans, prayer, praise, fellowship and fun. It all starts at 6:30, too.

Then Thursday night at 6pm, Seventh Day Slumber will be here with their Tearing Down the Walls tour with Stellar Kart and Kiros. It's all free, we will take a love offering. This is a Juncture project and we are expecting many young people to be saved. Please pray with us for that very thing. We still need some able-bodied folks at 9:45am on Thursday for about 2 hours to help us unload gear as we prepare for this great night. NGEN Radio will be on hand, too. Let's rock for the Rock!

Friday night at 7pm in our sanctuary will be Marsha Fisher's CD Release concert with music by Marsha, Dennis Rehders, Crossing Jordan and the Southern Plainsmen. I had previously said this would be a free concert with no love offering. It is free but there will a love offering collected.

Saturday 10am-2pm will be the North Shore High School's Automotive fundraiser Wallisviille @ Uvalde. We will be supplying Christian music for this outside event with the band Revolution 122. Come join us for some great food, fine cars and super music. The band will be playing 11-1:30.

The White Horse Motorcycle Rally date has been changed to July 2. The hours and location are still the same. More information forthcoming.

Tomorrow is no complain Wednesday. You can start early. But here is a Tuesday idea. Start right now not needing to be thanked, noticed or recognized for doing something positive, good or above the call. Don't remind folks of what you do, did or will do. They will find out. If it's the kudos you are looking for then the good thing you do just went south.  Pride and a need for kudos go together. Watch out. Do everything you can to please God, because even if nobody else notices, He does.

See you later, Ken.

Friday, May 06, 2011

Good Afternoon,

Happy Friday and Happy Mother's Day! Tonight is Faith First Friday at Mr. Gatti's, 8-10pm. Tomorrow morning, 8am is Men's Breakfast and Bible Study. See you soon, love, Ken

Thursday, May 05, 2011

Good Morning,

I'm not going to release any pictures of me in the future as it will make those that already dislike me not like me and it might give them indigestion.  But on the political, front how about a plane load of wild pigs airlifted in and dropped by parachute on Pakistan. Maybe they won't notice them either and our farmers and ranchers would be so pleased.  Oh my, it's Thursday and tomorrow is Friday and Sunday is Mother's Day. Step right up, get your trolling motors and riding lawnmowers - they are going fast. They come with a hard hat that has the word DUH on the front.

Patty Walger's surgery went very well. She has already walked some and was smiling and in great spirits this morning. Please pray for her and our other back warriors, Cheryl Gaylord, Liz Peddy,  and Jimmy Elliott. Effie Brewer will have hip injections tomorrow morning. Betty Moore is not feeling well either along with Joyce Smith, Barbara Cooper and Pearl Doyal.

Tonight is Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A, 5-8 pm. Zoom, zoom, zoom.

Trying to be someone we're not, portraying an image of who we want to be, or trying to meet the expectations of others always ends in frustration. We frustrate ourselves because we're either not very good at what we're doing or we're very unfulfilled in the work. We frustrate others because they NEED us to be doing what God created us to do.

See you later, love, ken.

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

Good Morning,

I will trade you ten degrees of increased temperature for two inches of rain. Deal? What a beautiful morning. Another great day for lunch under a tree. Take that vacuum cleaner that you bought for mom and exchange it. No not for an iron. How about a DVD of the 2009 NASCAR season? Now you're talking. Tell mom that Danica Patrick and her look like twin sisters. Good luck. It was nice knowing you. For you entrepreneurs, here is your next gold mine. Bin Laden Halloween costumes. Was anybody else looking for Bin? Let's see a new house goes up in the neighborhood that is four times the size of the rest of the houses and nobody has any idea whose house it is? Come on. Pakistan must think we raise turnips and ride the truck from the fields on a very bumpy road. Pakistan, your foreign aid check is in the mail. Oh, you received it this morning and it wasn't signed? What a shame. Remember those three baboon figurines on your desk? See no evil, speak plenty of evil, do evil when you can afford it. Oh my, you can't afford it because we didn't sign the check. Tsk, Tsk. You might want to drop a line to your buds. Send them some vowels, too. Oh, enough of that stuff . Time to get silly. Mickey Mouse for president. How about the moose. Remember the moose? What was his name?  He had like a gopher for a side kick.  Speed racer go and have a great Wednesday.

Join us tonight at 6pm for beef tips, rice, noodles, gravy, sweet potatoes, broccoli and cheese, pinto beans, salad, etc. Then on to Romans, prayer and praise at 7pm. Come on and join us. If you do, why not sit at a different table with different folks?  Yep, that's the purpose of the meal - getting to know one another.  Try it, please?

Thursday night is Spirit night at Chick-Fil-A, 5-8 pm. Never been? Give it a try.

It's no complain Wednesday. Lighten up. Don't think it and don't say it. Go an entire day without a negative comment about anything. You can do it. It starts with trying.

See you later, love, Ken.

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Good Afternoon,

Wow, it's already 2:30. Where has this Tuesday gone to? Hospitals and doctor's offices is all I can say. Joyce Raines is in Christus hospital in Clear Lake with some potassium problems and she fell while in the hospital, too. She says she feels like she was in a fight and lost. She in in room 422. J.C. Bryant, an old friend, had his knee replaced yesterday and all was well until about 3am today when a blood clot got loose and went to his lung. He is now in ICU at St. Luke's Patient's Hospital in Pasadena. My dad had to go back to the doctor today to have his 24 hour heart monitor removed. We should know something in a week on that. Betty Smith is still in rehab at Legend Oaks and looks really good and strong. She may go home in the next few days. Fran Miller is there, also, and she is looking very good, too, and may go home as early as today. Patty Walger will have her back surgery tomorrow, but we are still waiting on a time. Natalie Lombrana is having test procedures done on her thyroid over the next few days. Please pray for these.

The emperor penguins of Antarctica know the importance of community, teamwork and togetherness. Their lives depend on it. They huddle together by the hundreds, leaning on their friends and relatives to share the warmth that allows them to survive the brutal, freezing weather of their environment. Temperatures dip to 70 degrees below zero and the winds gust to 100 miles per hour. In a few hours of this a large steel screwdriver can be snapped like a pretzel. The penguins take turns monitoring the outside of their giant huddle, on the lookout for danger or food. After one of the birds has finished his "perimeter duty"  it waddles to the inside of the group so it can get warm and get some sleep. The baby penguins stand on their moms' and dads' feet to protect themselves from the icy surface. If a penguin tried to survive alone, it would not make it through one winter night. But because they stick together, the emperor penguins enjoy a survival rate of over 95 percent.

Community can equal survival. The proof is in the penguins. And the tougher the conditions, the more important it is for community to band together. You may not ever need to huddle together to stay warm but there are other types of warmth that we can gain from community: encouragement, empathy, ideas, spirituality and many more.

Do you now what Baptists cal their penguin huddle? Sunday School. Yep. You need it. It's quality time in a small group that can yield some great dividends and lessons. Try it every Sunday.

See you later, love, Ken

Monday, May 02, 2011

Good Morning,

Bin is a has been. Laden has lost. I'm not totally sure we should celebrate someone being dead. But to our troops who risked their life yesterday and days before and days ahead - YOU ROCK! Our prayers are with you from the shores of anywhere to the halls of everywhere. Semper Fi, and any other Latin words that might point toward home of the free, land of the brave. It's nice to see a and hear a little American pride on television and radio last night and today. Seems like we may have done something right after a little drought in that area. You don't spit in the wind, you don't hide in Pakistan from a Navy Seal. Can you imaginne what the conversation might have been. Hey, Bin, the US Navy is outside. Huh? There's no water for thousands of miles, there's nothing but mountains and sand! What are you drinking? I'm telling you, the US Navy is here and they are not driving a boat or holding a mop and they left their little white hats at home and they are very ticked. Bin?  Have a great Monday, Patriots.

Thursday is Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A. Come and join us.
Friday night is F3 at Mr. Gatti's with Revolution 122. Again, come and join us.
Men, it's Brakfast time on Saturday at 8am.

Wednesday night's menu is beef tips, noodles, rice, broccoli and cheese, salad, pinto beans, etc. It all starts at 6pm.

I've been around the fitness gym more regulalrly than normal as Terry is trying that out at this time. I still can't get over how everyone seems to park as close to the door as possible, even illegally in no parking zones and handicap zones. The parking lot is huge. Seems like a long walk to the exercise area may be a help in this entire process. But what do I know. I think maybe they think there is some magic inside those walls. Us Americans - we're funny. Walking in the parking lot is not the accepted method of physical change.
Church may have some similarities to the fitness gym. Unbelievable potential to help change and build individuals, but the lack of effort in that goal outside the walls seems to defeat much of the effort made inside the walls. Fitness - physical and spiritual is a personal decision, plan and pursuit. Yes, we can cheer for one another and help pull the weights off other's chests when they are trapped, but overall, it's a one-on-one process in the Spiritual fitness arena - God and you.

See you later, love, ken
